Da Jean Vilar alla stand-up comedy postmoderna, da Shakespeare al teatro socialmente impegnato di oggi, emerge la storia di un teatro che è soprattutto una cosa: un incontro autentico. Mouak e De Tremerie creano una storia del teatro (e delle loro vite come attori e spettatori) molto personale e commovente.
Milo Rau ha collaborato con Arne De Tremerie e Olga Mouak in diverse occasioni e i loro lavori congiunti (La Reprise, Antigone in the Amazon, The Interrogation e Grief and Beauty) sono stati rappresentati in tutto il mondo.
Ogni rappresentazione di La Lettre solleva le stesse domande: Quando sei andato a teatro per la prima volta? Quando hai messo piede per la prima volta su un palcoscenico? Quali fantasmi, quali scene, quali paure e quali aneddoti plasmano le nostre storie teatrali personali?

For La Lettre, Olga Mouak and Arne De Tremerie set out to reimagine the myth of direct and radical popular theater for the 21st century. From Jean Vilar to postmodern stand-up, from Shakespeare to today's socially engaged theater, the story of a theater emerges that is above all one thing: a genuine encounter. Mouak and De Tremerie create a very personal and moving history of theater (and their lives as actors and audience members).
Milo Rau has collaborated with Arne De Tremerie and Olga Mouak on several occasions, and their joint works (La Reprise, Antigone in the Amazon, The Interrogation, and Grief and Beauty) have toured all over the world.
Every performance of La Lettre raises the same questions: When did you first go to the theater? When did you first step onto the stage? Which ghosts, which scenes, which fears, and which anecdotes shape our personal theater stories?
Mouak and De Tremerie ask questions, tell stories, reenact scenes, and pay tribute in a personal and modest way to the original idea behind the Avignon Festival: to create a form of popular theater beyond the centers, arising from the spirit of the here and now. The result is a stand-up melodrama in the form of a double helix: as the actors embark on an honest, absurd, and shocking journey through their very personal theater stories, from Sophocles to casting couches, from Chekhov to the #MeToo movement, a profound examination of the essence of the performing arts—and the art of living itself—emerges.
